Pastor Jim Daub is originally from Milwaukee, WI. He is a product of Lutheran Education, as his elementary, high school, college, and seminary studies were all in Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LC-MS) institutions. He is a 1995 graduate of Concordia College Ann Arbor and a 1999 graduate of Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. Pastor took the call to St. Paul Lutheran Church in 2002. In addition to serving as Pastor of St. Paul, he also served for 19 years as the Emergency Services Chaplain for the City of Havelock and as a member and Executive Board member of the Havelock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He is an Auxiliary Support Chaplain with the United States Coast Guard. He has also served on the Board of Directors and as President for 5 years of the board for the Coastal Center for Hope and Healing (A Tri-County agency that serves those who are victims and survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Currently, Pastor Daub serves on the Craven County Hospice Advisory Board.
Pastor Daub has served the Southeastern District of the LC-MS on their Conference Planning Committee, as the Circuit Visitor for Circuit 13E from 2010-2023, as a Pastoral Delegate to two National Synodical Conventions, and has once again assumed the duties of Circuit Visitor. He served as the primary author and video narrator for the “Anchored in Christ” post-natural disaster and crisis Bible study series released by the Office of Disaster Relief for the LC-MS. He has also served as an Adult Leader, Manager, and Gathering Planner for 8 National Youth Gatherings. Pastor Daub has served as a guest presenter on our Synod's radio station, KFUO, and is a guest host on "Faith Matters", a local radio program broadcast each Sunday on The Talk Station. Pastor Daub is married to Megan, who works as a PT Tech, and they have two crazy canines: Heidi, a 10-year-old Golden Retriever, and Gabby, a 3-year-old Golden Retriever-Great Pyrenees mix.
Karen Nelson serves as our church secretary. She was born in Germany while her father was stationed there with the Navy. Growing up as a military child, she has had the privilege of traveling around the world and enjoying many different cultures. She moved to Havelock with her husband, Dave, in 1986. She has served as the church's secretary since 1998. She and Dave have three children and eight grandchildren. She enjoys baking, diamond art, and caring for her rambunctious puppy, Colby Jack.
Susie Sherman, originally from New Jersey, moved to the Havelock area in 1958 with her husband, Eddie, who was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. Susie has been an active member of our church family. Currently, she serves as the church organist. Her work among the congregation has included teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir we once had, serving as treasurer, and representing the now-defunct Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance Company. Susie is also very active in her community, playing piano at the senior center in Morehead City, NC, and working with the "Adoptathon" events for the animal shelter in Carteret County. She enjoys taking care of her animals, crafts, puzzles, and going on cruises.
